What to expect on a Sunday:

Let’s just be honest… checking out a church can feel awkward. It’s okay. Take a deep breath. You’re not alone. We’ve got you!

Here at Westminster Chapel, you’ll find an open, welcoming space where people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds gather to find belonging, truth and transformation. We care about you—your whole family! Your story matters to us and to God. And we’ll be the first to admit we don’t have it all figured out, but we know Who does!

We hope you’ll join us on Sunday at 10am, grab a coffee, engage in amazing worship, and be challenged by solid, biblical teaching. But most of all we hope you’ll discover Jesus and step into the story of your transformation—life with Him changes everything!

Sunday Vibes

Wondering what service is like here at Westminster Chapel? Well, we’re a bit old-school with a modern twist. Our worship blends contemporary music with classic hymns. Our sermons are rooted in God’s Word, the Bible (we let Him set the agenda), but are engaging, relevant and applicable to all the pressures, challenges and opportunities that life here on the Eastside present. After service there are usually kids running around as we gather to enjoy some coffee, food and good conversation. Come find your family here! We can’t wait to welcome you in.

Westminster Kids

When: Sundays, 10am Check-In Opens: 9:45am
Where: Children’s Check-In area

At Westminster Chapel, we believe Jesus calls us to be a disciple-making church for all generations and all people. Westminster Kids is not simply about programs. We are about helping children become rooted in the gospel and grow to listen and love like Jesus. Here your kids will encounter Jesus, whether they’re in the nursery or 5th grade, through the kindness of our wonderful background-checked volunteers and the God-focused, gospel-centered lessons they’ll learn. Each week they’ll work on hiding God’s word in their hearts through scripture memorization, learning Biblical truths through fun, age-appropriate teaching, and building lasting friendships with other kids their age. Just you wait… they’ll be asking when it’s Sunday again!

Students

Westminster Students

When: Sundays, 10am
Where: The Sanctuary

Investing in the next generation and empowering them to live for Jesus is something we value on a core level. At Westminster Students not only do we lay a Biblical foundation through understanding who God is and what His Word says, but we challenge students to think critically and apply what they learn to develop a faith that is all their own. We invite them to serve and engage in Sunday service with their families to foster deeper conversations around the table and understand the important role they play in the life of our church. But we know teens and tweens need their own space. Every Sunday night we provide an opportunity for them to invite friends, share a meal, and connect and grow more deeply in faith and friendship.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect when I arrive at Westminster Chapel?

Just a heads up, we’re really friendly over here. From the moment you turn into the parking lot (and yes, there’s ample parking) you’ll see LOTS of smiling faces: directing traffic, greeting you at the door, guiding you to where you need to go. At our heart we’re just one big family, so get ready for that Seattle freeze to thaw! And we wouldn’t be a proper PNW church if we didn’t have coffee. You can grab some drip as you walk in or a hand-crafted beverage at Brew, our in-house coffee bar.

If you have kids, check them in at our Kid’s Lobby or if it’s your first time, head to our Welcome Desk to get them registered you can also do that ahead of time here.

Then make your way to the sanctuary (we also have balcony seating), find a pew and get ready to hear from God and make a new friend. He’s so glad you’ve come and so are we!

What should I wear to church?

We do live in the PNW, so we keep it casual over here. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. No need to impress… God already thinks you’re pretty great, and we do too!

What can I expect during serivice?

We begin our service together (it’s a whole family affair!) in worship, because it reminds us of who God is and prepares our hearts to hear from Him. We blend contemporary music with traditional hymns and scripture readings so there’s something for everyone (don’t worry… lyrics and words will be on the big screen). Following worship, we dive into God’s Word as we listen to an engaging message preached by one of our pastors (kids head to their classes but youth remain in service). We follow an expository preaching style, which just means we let Scripture set the agenda. After the message, there’s time for reflection, prayer and communion as we end with one final song and a benediction—a blessing—to set the tone and course for your week ahead.

What programming do you have for my children (birth through 5th grade)?

We love our kids and want the whole family to participate in worship, so we begin our service together in the sanctuary praising God. Once they’ve sung a few songs, they are dismissed to their own classrooms to engage in fun, age-appropriate teaching that focuses on hiding God’s Word in their hearts (scripture memorization), understanding His character and Biblical truths (doctrine), and learning how to live these out (application).

Our dedicated team of screened and trained kids volunteers lovingly pour into our kids each week as they make God, His love and Word known to the next generation.

For our littlest ones we have an amazing group of Nursery volunteers who are ready to hold, rock and play with your precious babe so you can have a break and be refilled in the service.

And for our moms who need a little space with baby, you’re not forgotten! We have a dedicated room for you to watch the service live while attending to your little one.

What is available for middle & high school students?

On Sunday mornings our middle and high school students join us in the service. We want our students to learn how to listen and engage thoughtfully with the same message their parents are hearing, to foster deeper conversations around the table, and to see the important role they play in the life of our church. We believe this is one way we help to grow and mature them in their faith, preparing them for the day when they move from student to young adult.

But we know (thankfully!) they’re not adults just yet and have their own experiences, and need for community and autonomy. So we have Sunday Nights – our weekly student ministry gatherings where they can come and invite friends to share a meal, be challenged by relevant, God-focused, gospel-centered teaching and discuss how it applies to their lives in smaller groups.

How do I get connected into the church family?

We’re so glad you asked! There are several ways to get connected here at Westminster. From larger Communities (think Men’s, Women’s, Parent’s, Students’, & Senior’s) that host events throughout the year, to Groups that meet monthly-weekly to grow in relationship with each other, to more intimate D-Groups (Discipleship groups) where you can be vulnerable and go deep with a few friends, there’s lots of ways to get plugged-in.

We also host Alpha which can be a great first step if you’re new to faith and want a place to ask questions over a meal or Celebrate Recovery—a safe space to work through and walk with others dealing with hurts, habits or hangups. And throughout the year we offer a variety of classes if you want to deepen your understanding on a particular topic while meeting others.

Serving is another way to build community and dive right into church life. There are a ton of teams you can join, from hospitality to helping with our kids and youth programs on Sunday. You can find all this info on our Connect Page, attend our next Starting Point meeting, held monthly after service, or just stop by the Welcome Desk and chat with a real human. We’d be happy to help you take the next right step here at Westminster Chapel and we promise, we don’t bite
